Raw power

Developed in partnership with Alpine – that is used to the Renault 5 -, the mini supercar purpose is to set a benchmark in its own category, with obvious raw power and agility standards. The Renault 5 Turbo 3E will be powered by dual in-wheel motors, producing 540 HP, with a 0-100 km/h sprint in under 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 270 kph. Another benefit of in-wheel motors (or dual motor on a same axle), is that it allows engineers and drivers to play with torque vectoring.

With its aggressive styling, custom platform, and an 800V charging system that delivers 350 kW DC fast-charging, the Turbo 3E is also the first Renault to benefit this electric architecture.

… requires raw design

Renault’s 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 made waves in the ’80s, dominating rally circuits and standing out as some of the most desirable collector cars today (unlike 20 years ago…). The Turbo 3E carries that legacy forward with a restomod approach, keeping the wild spirit of its predecessors while pushing performance with modern technology.

The new model isn’t just a tribute. It’s an entirely new category. The Turbo 3E’s compact yet aggressive dimensions (4.08m long, 2.03m wide) give it the stance of a supercar, yet in a format reminiscent of a classic hot hatch. The Turbo 3E total weight should be around 1,540 kg. Its lightweight carbon-fiber superstructure ensures the power-to-weight ratio rivals top-tier performance vehicles (2.7 kg/HP).

High-Performance Engineering

Renault relies on Alpine’s expertise in developing the Turbo 3E’s performance capabilities, including an ultra-responsive handling and rear-wheel-drive layout as a base requirement. The vehicle will feature a dedicated drift-assist mode, a rally-style vertical handbrake, and in-wheel motors that produce a massive 4,800 Nm of torque at the wheel (should be around 500-600 Nm at the shaft).

Renault has gone all-in on electric innovation. The Turbo 3E’s in-wheel motors deliver immediate acceleration, while an 800V battery architecture supports rapid charging. A 70 kWh battery pack provides a range of up to 400 km (WLTP pending homologation), with a fast charge from 15% to 80% in just 15 minutes.

Renault 5 Turbo 3E price and units

Renault plans to produce just 1,980 numbered units of the 5 Turbo 3E, paying homage to the original model’s launch year. The car will be available in select markets, including Europe, the Middle East, Japan, and Australia.

Pricing details are yet to be officially announced, but our estimates suggest a price tag of around $175,000 (€155,000 – £135,000 – CHF145,000). Reservations will open in the coming weeks, with first deliveries expected in 2027.
