Rallye : Part 1
We woke up and were lucky to find out no rain, a blue sky with a few clouds, and dry roads. We went to the meeting point and got our road-books, and hit the road again ! The first leg of the rallye was basically from Saint-Moritz to a military place where the cars would have to pass a few acceleration, braking and turning tests. So we parked meters away from this place and went to find a good spot to wait for the participants to arrive. The first car to pass us was Chris Dravecโs 1933 MG K Magnette Compressor, who also owns a Triumph TR3 which some of you might have seen at the Monte-Carlo historic rally. It was followed by Adrian von Lerberโs incredible Rolls-Royce Phantom I Springfield from 1928, which really looked pristine. Then arrived Dennis Linganeโs 1925 Bentley 3 litre, with its Australian flag and number plate ! I was amazed, and really curious to know if they had gone all the way from Australia to Switzerland for the event. Not everyday you see an Australian registered car on some swiss mountain roadsโฆ
Up next was Jรผrg Schiffmannโs 1931 Rolls-Royce 20/25 HP in a very nice white body over black top bicolor configuration. Notice the white plain rims adding even some more presence to this already massive automobile, and the black luggage set on the back. What a class these cars had and still have todayโฆ Another car from the legendary Crewe manufacturer was behind, a 1926 20 HP Drop Head by Ranalahย from Markus Jaggi, chassis GYK 86, followed closely by Rolf Mario Donatiโs 1934 Bentley 3 1/2 Litre Airline Saloon / Coupรฉ
