The 24h of Le Mans 2021 was the first edition to introduce the Le Mans Hypercar (LMH), a new category that replaces the 2020 LMP1 category. In 2021, three teams are enrolled: Alpine, Glickenhaus and Toyota. With the new regulations, LMP2 cars are still rapid: the fastest LMP2 was a second slower per lap with regards to the slowest Hypercar. Nevertheless, this year was full of emotions and can draw a promising future with new competitors (through LMH and LMDh categories): Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Peugeot and Porsche.

Bonus

Alpine made a demonstration to promote their different models and race cars currently in production/involved in racing. Fernando Alonso was driving a Renault F1 with an Alpine livery because the Alpine A521 (actual F1 car) can’t take part to any shakedown due to FIA rules. Esteban Ocon was also present, driving an Alpine A110 GT4.
