The 911 GT3 R rennsport key feature is the design
Designed as a collector’s dream, the 911 GT3 R rennsport is a striking blend of powerful aesthetics and historical motorsport vibes. Grant Larson and Thorsten Klein of the Style Porsche team, the architects behind this limited-edition, have succeeded in marrying the primal form of a 911-based racing car with modern design elements. The result is a visual spectacle that pays homage to Porsche’s motorsport legacy without falling into the trappings of a retro design.

Larson and Klein, drawing inspiration from the modern Porsche 935, ensured that the 911 GT3 R rennsport stands as a logical successor to its predecessor. With a widened stance and lowered profile, the car exudes a powerful charisma, emphasizing its racing pedigree. The body design, apart from the bonnet and roof, has undergone extensive modifications, creating a unique visual identity.
The rear of the car, paying homage to the legendary Brumos Porsche 935/77, features a colossal rear wing. This is not merely a visual spectacle but a functional element generating actual downforce, a nod to its racing roots. The traditional exterior mirrors have been replaced with a digital system, integrating three cameras into the vehicle’s outer skin. This not only enhances aerodynamics but also contributes to the overall racing aesthetic.
Remaining track-focused on the inside
Inside, the racing theme continues with a slightly modified interior. The car, in line with its racing DNA, is a single-seater with a robust roll cage adhering to FIA standards. The monitors for the exterior cameras are seamlessly integrated into the cockpit, ensuring a racing experience that is as immersive as it is thrilling.

One of the highlights is the groundbreaking color concept. Porsche offers the GT3 R rennsport in Agate Grey Metallic with pure carbon bodywork ex works. For the first time, customers have seven colors to choose from, including Star Ruby and Signal Orange, along with three exclusive paintwork designs, allowing for extensive customization.
Naturally aspirated engine, just not like the 935
At the heart of this limited-edition marvel is a 4.2-litre six-cylinder boxer engine, a technological masterpiece meticulously designed to elevate the driving experience to unparalleled heights. This power unit, capable of revving up to an astounding 9,400 rpm, is not merely an engine; it’s a finely tuned instrument, delivering a breathtaking power peak of up to 456 kW (620 PS).

The brilliance of this engine lies in its liberation from the constraints of traditional motorsport regulations. Unlike its predecessor, the 911 GT3 R of the 992 generation, the 911 GT3 R rennsport harnesses additional freedoms, transforming it into a more emotional and exhilarating circuit car. This unleashed power translates to an impressive output of 148 horsepower per liter of displacement, a feat that might very well be a record for a naturally aspirated engine in the realm of GT racing cars.
The flexibility of the engine is further accentuated by its capability to run on a variety of fuels. Designed to operate on E25 fuels, including bioethanol and e-Fuel, as well as regeneratively produced e-fuels, the 911 GT3 R rennsport not only embraces performance but also sustainability. These advanced fuels, with their lower knocking tendency, pave the way for increased ignition angles and heightened compression in the six combustion chambers, pushing the boundaries of what a racing engine can achieve.
